Mohamed Salah
A bold claim has emerged about Mohamed Salah. Liverpool’s star forward Mohamed Salah may be prepared to see out his current contract at the club and enjoy his massive salary if a transfer does not materialize next summer, former Manchester City financial adviser Stefan Borson told Football Insider.
According to Borson, Saudi Arabia is the only realistic option for the Egyptian star if he decides to leave Anfield. Salah signed a new contract with Liverpool last April, which runs until June 2027. However, the 33-year-old has been heavily linked with transfer speculation in recent months.
Football Insider reports that Salah is Liverpool’s highest-paid player alongside Virgil van Dijk. Both earn around £400,000 per week.
According to Borson, this likely leaves Salah with only two options.
“In reality, only Saudi Arabia could even come close to that level of salary,” Borson assessed.
“The question is whether Saudi Arabia wants to invest that much money. Have there been changes there that affect the situation? We don’t yet know.
“If not, Salah will see out his contract very happily on extremely high wages. I just don’t see any other realistic route out of Liverpool given his earnings.”
