Dallas Stars have called up Finnish forward Arttu Hyry from their AHL affiliate.
The 24-year-old Hyry is playing his second season in the Dallas organization. He has not yet seen NHL action this season, but he has been productive in the AHL. Hyry has played 26 games this season for the Texas Stars, recording 7 goals and 10 assists for 17 points.
NHL Debut Last Season
Last season, Hyry appeared in five NHL games, posting 0 goals and 1 assist. In the AHL regular season, he tallied an impressive 24 goals and 25 assists for 49 points in 67 games. In the playoffs, he added 1 goal and 5 assists in 14 games.
Hyry is also an interesting case because he went undrafted in the NHL. He earned his opportunity in North America through strong performances in Europe.
From Kärpät to the Lions and North America
Before moving to North America, Hyry played a strong season with Oulun Kärpät in Finland’s top league. His performances also earned him a call-up to the Finnish national team. In the spring of 2024, he represented Leijonat at the IIHF World Championship 2024.
Now, he has another opportunity to prove himself at the NHL level. If he gets ice time, Hyry will have a chance to take the next step in his career and establish himself in the world’s top hockey league.
