Canada’s captain Sidney Crosby was injured in the Olympic quarterfinal game against the Czech Republic and was forced to leave the game early.
Now new information has emerged regarding Crosby’s situation. TSN reports that Crosby is unlikely to play in the semifinal against Finland.
“It sounds like Crosby may take a quick skate in the morning to see where things stand. But it’s unlikely that he will play against Finland. If he is unable to play, Nick Suzuki will likely take his place in the lineup,” TSN reporter Ryan Rishaug said on X.
Earlier, Canada’s head coach Jon Cooper stated that Crosby has not been ruled out of the tournament and that his condition will be evaluated day by day.
“We have the best people taking care of him. We’re going to assess the situation day by day. We’re not going to put anyone’s health at risk. But if he’s able to play, he’ll definitely play,” Cooper said on Thursday.
